My heart is broken...

Last April I hired a young man from Samburu Land as my night guard. He was a 23 year old Samburu warrior. Never been to school and only spoke a little Kiswahili and no English of course. He came to Nakuru looking for work and a pastor friend of mine sent him and another boy when I told him I'm looking for a night guard. I hired Jalisan. Jalisan's story is this...He was tending his 102 heads of cattle when the Turkana (another tribe) raided him and took all his cattle. His family was wiped out because cattle, goates, sheep, camels are their money. Another friend of his said he would pay his way to Nakuru (my town) to look for work. It's a 12 hours trip by public transportation. Jalisan had never been anywhere before this. Anyway, God directed to me. At this time, Jalisan was not a good young man. He was unsaved and drinking, smoking, having sex, etc. But, I felt I was supposed to hire him. Not long after I hired him, I showed him the Jesus film and he got saved. This was the 1st movie he had ever seen. Another missionary had left his TV here for a while and had the Jesus film. Jalisan's whole life changed and he fell in love with Jesus. He was going to church, praying, and listening to an audio Bible at night while on guard duty. Then he started meeting friends who were not saved and hanging with them. He started being late for work or not showing up. I had warned him several times. Even when I was in the US, I got several complaints about him not working. I had caught him several times sleeping on the job too. After I returned to Kenya, I had a long talk with him and put him on probation. I told him this is the last time and there were no more warnings and he said he understood and agreed. Well, the first night I left going to Migori, I got a call from a friend of mine telling me he was at my front gate and there was no one there. He came by to pick something up. I called Jalisan and after several calls, he tells me he is at my house. He was lying. He didn't know someone was at my gate and had called me. I had to tell him he was fired. He came by today to pick up his last pay and turn in my keys. This boy had become like a son to me. My heart is broke. I had also gotten word that he is drinking and had been drunk for the last 3 days. Please pray for this boy. Also, pray I find another night guard who is honest and trustworthy. It is very dangerous not to have a guard here and security system that I don't have either. Pray angels around me and keep me safe. Love to you all from Kenya.
Forever His servant & yours, Teresa June
